Creating your vision board.

In my previous post, I took you through the process of writing out your goals for 2021. At this point, we’re already a week into January and although many of you would have already started to work on your New Year’s resolutions, I believe that it’s never too late to get started. After all, self-development and growth is a year-round process.

So, the way I started this process is that I looked through my semi-organised list of goals for 2020 and then I took to Pinterest to start creating a board of images that were either literally or metaphorically related to these goals. I also would intermittently think of a specific image that I wanted to include and I would just Google it and download it right away.

Some of these were quotes or imagery that I may not have had in my written goals but were still mantras or part of the aesthetic I wanted for myself for 2021. I added those to my Pinterest board as well, because, why not? It’s your board so have fun with it!

By the end of my frenzied process, I had a whole bunch of images, symbols and quotes for my board.

Now came the hard part of discerning which ones really fit my vision board — both metaphorically and physically.

Once this was done, I painstakingly tried to arrange and re-arrange them in Word so that I could print them out and prepare them to be stuck on the board.

I had a great time with 2 of my friends last week because we got together specifically to work on our boards. We spent our time jamming to songs from the 90s (as one does) as we cut and paste our goals for the year.

It’s really important to have the right kind of vibe around you when you work on your board. Leave the negativity at the door and only work with other people if their wavelength matches your own. It’s so important to have supportive people around you that you can be accountable to and vice versa, throughout the year.

You can find loads of vision boards online for your reference. Again, there isn’t just one way to do this. Remember that this is not a mood board and it not for other people’s aesthetic enjoyment. Just make sure you’re setting big goals and consistently working towards them. Lastly, be sure to display the board in a place where you can see it often throughout the year.

Feel free to comment/respond if you have any questions. I’m more than happy to help out!
